Major Russian Assaults Cut Power Throughout Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure under attack in Ukraine
The country's energy systems have faced increased strikes in the past few days

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have resulted in electricity outages in multiple districts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were injured while inhabitants in the city's east were plunged into darkness and faced interruptions to water supplies, according to local authorities.

Simultaneously, a seven-year-old child was lost their life in a separate Russian drone strike in the southeastern region in the southeastern part, as reported by local officials.

Moscow has increased assaults on energy facilities over recent weeks, while officials has called for "substantial measures" from international partners to apply pressure on Russia.

"What is required is not window dressing but firm measures - from the US, European nations and the G7 - in delivering air defence systems and implementing restrictions," mentioned in a online statement.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and over thirty rockets struck energy facilities, characterizing such attacks as "cynical and calculated" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Moscow was "inflicting a massive strike" and technical staff were working to restore power.

A wave of strikes struck electrical systems and apartment buildings in the capital.

Multiple people hurt in the attacks on the city have been hospitalized, according to local officials.

Local officials said the metropolitan region came under intense attacks during nighttime hours. A seven-year-old child lost their life and multiple civilians were injured.

The strikes succeed periods of bombing campaigns in the area, portions of which are occupied by invading troops.

The entire country is under warning for advanced weapon attacks, which are tougher to spot.

Government officials told journalists that Russia was intentionally trying to destroy the country's energy grid, with attacks already disrupting fuel infrastructure.

Officials stated utility staff and officials were anticipating additional strikes.
